Three years running in the Benevolent Cup Final!

After Downswood beat Addington 3-1 on Saturday 15th March Downswood will now face Shepway in a repeat of the 2006 Benevolent final on 10th April 2008.

Downswood 3 Addington 1

In a tense start both sides created very little as they battled for the ball, it was Downswood who started to impose their game as Darren Chappell and Leigh West grasped midfield. The impressive Jack Stansell created the first chance for Dave Sexton to shoot wide.

A powerful header from Jof Everett sent Ben West away to round Will King to slot home, then good defending from Jamie Ruxton denied Woods.
Addington had a chance when Ben Woodward shot over. Woods made it 2-0 when Colin Jago released Ben West who blasted home from the edge of the box.

In the second half Woods weathered the Addington start and hit them on the counter when Mike Wright setup Dan Martin to cooly slot home, with total control Woods gave away a corner and Addington took there chance when Tom Reading slotted home at the far post.
Addington tried to make more chances with Andy Cain shooting wide.

Woods regained control and when Kean Elkington released Steve Mattingley down the line who crossed for Ian Evenden to produce a stunning save from King. Right on time Lewis Sackey had a good run and shot well saved by Woods Nick Harvey.
